A fantastic set of 8 Arts and Crafts 'Hampton Court' dining chairs, designed by Richard Norman Shaw for Morris & Co in 1910. There are 6 single chairs and 2 matching carver chairs, each with a shaped top rail above a solid splat, beautiful rush seats raised on rounded tapering legs united by turned H stretchers.
They are in very good condition with a lovely patina. The seats have been recently re-rushed and each chair is strong and sturdy. There are some signs of age and use, a few light knocks and some minor age-related marks here and there but nothing detrimental. There have been a couple of old repairs and there are some minor old splits in the wooden rails around the rush but nothing untoward and it hasn't affected the chairs structurally. They have all been cleaned and lightly polished and are ready for use.
