A lovely pair of ash Arts and Crafts style bentwood chairs dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. Given the style of the chairs it is likely that they originated from America. They have steamed bentwood arms and a high back with turned spindles and defined pointed finials. They stand on turned tapering legs joined by stretchers.
The chairs stand approximately 42 1/2" (108cm) high and are 19" (49cm) wide across the arms. The seats are 16 1/2" (42cm) deep, 17 1/2" (45cm) wide and 17 1/4" (44cm) high.
They are in good condition and are strong and sturdy with no signs of worm or any major damages. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks on the seats and around the legs but nothing detrimental. They have developed a wonderful rich patina and have been gently cleaned and polished and are ready for use.
