A good oak chest of drawers dating from the late 18th Century. They have two short over three long drawers and are made of solid oak with lovely crossbanding around the edge of the top. They stand on bracket feet and have brass plate handles and matching escutcheons. The drawers open smoothly, having had the runners recently repaired, and are clean and tidy inside.
They are in good condition for their age. They have developed a lovely warm patina and are strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use and they have picked up some small knocks, and marks but nothing detrimental. There are some old shrinkage splits in the sides and some minor areas of fading but overall they display well. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
