A superb oak corner cupboard of small proportions dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. The top part has glazed doors with beautifully shaped fretwork arches, opening to a shelved interior. The lower part has a pair of panelled cupboard doors and it stands on bracket feet. The shelves are nicely shaped and there is a groove around the edge to allow plates to stand up.
It is an excellent quality piece with a greek key carved cornice, brass escutcheons and a green painted interior. There is a key to lock the top doors and the cupboard does split into two sections at the middle making it easy to move and transport.
It is in very good condition for its age and the oak has developed a lovely rich patina. There have been some minor repairs and restorations over the years, the interior has been repainted at some point and the paint has worn and marked in a few places but nothing untoward. There are other general signs of age and use and a small chip on the edge but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
