A lovely mahogany writing desk dating from the early 19th century. It is a good quality piece with pretty inlaid sycamore stringing and an inset gilt tooled writing surface. It has two short drawers with brass swan neck handles and diamond shaped bone escutcheons. It stands on square tapering legs with its original brass caps and castors.
It is a nice compact size, perfect as a side table or a small writing desk.
It is in very good condition throughout. It is generally clean and tidy and the drawers open well. There are normal signs of age and use, a few minor marks and light knocks but nothing detrimental. The writing surface is in good order and is showing a nice aged patina with some old marks and stains but no major damages. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
