Product Details

An attractive 18th Century Longcase Clock by Boniface Bywater of Stamford with an exceptional quality 6 pillar 8-day striking movement.

There are records of Boniface Bywater working as an apprentice for the noted clockmaker John Watts of Stamford from 1687 until 1696 so it is likely that this clock dates from the first half of the 18th century.

It has a 12" brass dial signed with the makers name. A silvered chapter ring encloses a second hand and calendar aperture. There is a lever to the right hand side to release the winding hole covers.

The case is oak with attractive dentil style mouldings and simple turned columns flanking the dial. Carved pediment and turned finial top the case. The door comes with a working key and the clock stands on a square plinth base.

The clock is in good working order and comes with pendulum, two weights and winding key.
