A lovely tabletop collectors cabinet dating from the early 20th Century. It is a good quality piece made from pine with five drawers and turned wooden knobs.
Chests such as this were used for storing all sorts of things - collectors would use them to store samples in such as rocks, butterflies, eggs or coins etc.
Overall it is in good original condition and has developed a lovely patina. There are signs of age and use and the chest has picked up some small knocks and marks and signs of wear over the years but the drawers are generally clean and tidy and open smoothly. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
