Fine example of a beautifully hand painted small Moorcroft bowl in the popular 'Pansy' design. The dish displays very well and is unmistakably Moorcroft. The pattern is set on a deep blue background and shows a beautiful tubelined flower in shades of red amongst green leaves.
Approximate Measurements :
Diameter : 4 1/4" (11cm)
Height : 1 1/2" (4cm)
The bowl has an impressed stamp mark with facsimile signature for William Moorcroft along with 'Potter to HM the Queen'. This dates the piece to between 1928-1949.
The bowl is in excellent condition and is a good example of an early Moorcroft piece. There are no chips, cracks or restoration and the colours are bright and vibrant. There is some very light glaze crazing on the bottom of the bowl and there are some light internal surface scratches but nothing major. There is some slight fading around the rim of the bowl and the outer surface as can sometimes be found on older pieces.
