Product Details

A good example of an oak dresser dating from the early to mid 19th century and most likely originating from Carmarthenshire in Wales. The base has three drawers arranged around a small central arch standing on turned legs with block feet and an open potboard base. The upper section is of inverted breakfront design with open central shelves flanked by glazed cupboards. The rack has many of its original blacksmith made hooks and the cupboards have their original brass knobs and come with working keys.

It is in good condition throughout and is strong and sturdy. It is not without some signs of age and use and some light marks and old stains but no major damages or anything detrimental and this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. The drawer handles are not original but suit the piece well and the drawer linings have also been replaced at some point. There are some signs of historic worm, particularly in the drawers, which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the dresser structurally or aesthetically. It has been given a clean and gentle wax and is ready for use.
