Product Details

Good example of an original early 20th century WWI era shell case, used in battle to carry artillery ammunition. It is covered in cordite and has a tin lining. It has a very nice painted armorial coat of arms applied to the front of the carrier.

These shell carriers are now commonly used as stick stands and make great decorative pieces.

It is in good condition for its age and has a beautiful worn and aged patina. There are some general marks and scuffs and some losses and fading to the coat of arms but nothing untoward for a piece like this. It would have originally had a carrying handle but that isn't really detrimental. There is some minor corrosion on the bottom of the tin liner but overall it displays very well.
Approximate Measurements:
Height : 20 1/2" (52cm)
Inner Diameter : 5 1/2" (14cm)

Base Diameter : 7 1/2" (19cm)
