Good example of a twin cylinder engine manufactured by Mamod in the 1970s. The engine is set on a raised metal base, painted red. The boiler is brass and sits on pressed housing. Below the boiler is the original fuel burner.
On top of the boiler is the pressure valve, sprung whiste and the water filler cap.
It has a 'Griffin & George' label on the base and some of the parts are stamped 'Mamod'.
The engine has twin cylinders and this particular model was top of the range and branded as a very powerful engine to 'really get your models going!'
Approximate Measurements ;
Base : 9 1/2" (24cm) square
Height : 9" (23cm)
Boiler : 6" (30cm) long
Flywheel : 2 1/2" (6cm) diameter
The whole thing looks like it has been very well cared for and looked after. I personally have not had it in steam but I have tested the mechanics by way of a small air compressor and everything moves as it should. However it is really being sold as seen with no guarantees about its power or function.
Generally it is in very good condition for its age. The boiler is free from any major dents and corrosion. There is some tarnishing and some general wear and tear marks but nothing major. There is some solder around the base of the filler cap. The metal base has some knocks and paint losses and small areas of rust. The engine has been lightly cleaned and oiled and displays very well.
