A lovely vintage mahjong set dating from the early 20th Century in its original box. The pieces are made from bamboo with the symbols and pictures finely carved into the surface. There is a complete set of 144 tiles plus a further 4 spare blank tiles. The tiles measure approx 28mm x 20mm x 13mm high. There are also 3 dice in a small box and many dozens of sticks.
The components of the game are kept in a strong cardboard box with a separate section for the tiles. The box measures approx 10" (26cm) long x 5 1/2" (14cm) wide x 2 3/4" (7cm) high.
The whole set is in very good condition for its age. It is not new and has been used so please don't buy it expecting it to be brand new. There are general light signs of wear and use and some fading on a few of the pieces but it is a very usable set.
The box is strong and sturdy. There are some signs of age and wear, some marks, scuffs and small losses and tears around the edges but nothing detrimental and it displays nicely.
