Product Details

An unusual Victorian Sewing Casket in the form of a coronet made from woven straw on a rattan frame. It has a brass handle and closing latches and the two halves of the casket open to reveal a beautiful silk lined buttoned interior.

It has its original paper maker's label on the base for "William Whiteley. Westbourne Grove. London. W".

It is in good condition for its age and has clearly been well looked after. The exterior is in remarkably good condition with no major damages or losses. There are of course some minor signs of age and use and an old repair to a small break on one foot but nothing detrimental and overall it displays beautifully. The interior is generally clean and tidy although there are some small tears around the edging of the lining (see photos).
