Product Details

A good example of a Victorian writing slope dating from the late 1800s. It is made of walnut with a lovely patina and brass strapping on the corners and edges and matching brass escutcheon and cartouche.

The box is fitted with its original dark leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge and a maker / retailer's name for "S.Woolfield & Co". It comes with a small glass inkwell with brass top and its original wooden pen tray. Both top and bottom sections of the writing surface lift up to reveal extra storage space below and it comes with a working key.

The box is in very good condition for its age with a beautiful patina. There are some general signs of age and use, some knocks and light marks but nothing detrimental. There is some wear along the crease of the writing surface and some other marks and signs of use but overall it displays very nicely.
