Product Details

A good example of a large Victorian writing slope dating from the late 1800s. It is made of walnut with a lovely patina and brass strapping on the corners and edges and matching brass escutcheon and cartouche.

The box is fitted with a good quality dark leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge. It comes with a small glass inkwell and its original wooden pen tray. Both top and bottom sections of the writing surface lift up to reveal extra storage space below.

The box is in very good condition for its age with a beautiful patina and displays very nicely. There are some general signs of age and use, some knocks and light scuffs and minor shrinkage splits but nothing untoward or detrimental. We do not have a key.
