Product Details

A good example of a Victorian writing slope dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. It is made of walnut with a lovely patina and brass strapping with a matching brass escutcheon and cartouche.

The box is fitted with a good quality green leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge. It comes with a small glass inkwell and its original wooden pen tray. Both top and bottom sections of the writing surface lift up to reveal extra storage space below.

The box is in good condition for its age with a beautiful patina. There are some general signs of age and use, some knocks and light scuffs and minor shrinkage splits but nothing untoward or detrimental. The brass strapping is lifting slightly in places but it doesn't concern us and it still displays well. It does not come with a key.
