A good quality toleware coal bin dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. It is an attractive tapering shape with side carrying handles, a hinged lid and a lining. It is beautifully decorated with gilt painted birds and flowers on the front, lid and sides.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There are some signs of age and use, some wear to the paint, small losses and small areas of corrosion. There are some dents, particularly in the lid (see photos) and there are some small holes in the base but this wouldn't cause a problem due to the liner. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
