Product Details

A good example of a stuffed and mounted Scops Owl in its original glass display case dating from the late 19th Century. It has been very well preserved and mounted, perched on a small stump in a naturalistic setting amongst natural foliage. It is set in a good quality glass fronted ebonised wooden case. It has a good solid back and a label which reads "Scops Owl" and another "Given in Ann Simpson's Will".

It is in good condition for its age due to the protection the case has given over the years. The owl's feather's are full and have a good colour. There is no deterioration around his feet or legs and he looks very healthy. The background is clean and tidy with no major signs of deterioration or wear. The wooden case itself has a good aged patina with no major damages and has been lightly cleaned and waxed. There are some signs of historic worm holes in the case which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected it structurally or aesthetically.
