Product Details

A good example of a stuffed and mounted Ermine in its original glass display case dating from the late 19th Century. It has been very well preserved and mounted, perched on a small stump in a naturalistic setting amongst natural foliage. It is set in a good quality glass fronted ebonised wooden case.

It has its original maker's label on the back for "James Gardner (by appointment to Her Majesty the Queen) 29, late 426, Oxford St. London".

It is in good condition for its age due to the protection the case has given over the years. The Ermine's fur is full and has a good colour. There is no deterioration around his eyes or mouth and he looks very healthy. The background is clean and tidy with no major signs of deterioration or wear. The wooden case itself has a good aged patina with no major damages and has been lightly cleaned and waxed.
