A fine example of an early Victorian silver Vinaigrette with gilt lined interior and pierced gilt grille. It is an attractive small size and is decorated on both sides with delicate engraved patterns.
It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham, 1851 and the maker Edward Smith.
It is in good condition for its age. There are no major damages and it displays beautifully. There are some faint surface marks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. The hinges are in good order and the gilt interior is bright. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
