A lovely example of a large sterling silver berry spoon. It has a long handle and is beautifully decorated with repousse work flowers and engraved detail. The handle has more finely engraved decoration and a small armorial crest in the form of a swan engraved on the tip. It is excellent quality and weighs approximately 61g.
It measures approximately 9" (23cm) long and the spoon itself is 2" (5cm) wide x 3" (8cm) long.
It is clearly hallmarked for London, 1837 and the maker Hayne & Cater.
It is in excellent condition for its age. There are no major damages and it displays beautifully. There are some faint surface scratches and a few light marks but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
