A superb example of a beautiful Victorian inlaid writing slope. It is made of rosewood with brass stringing and inlaid corner motifs of abalone shell, mother of pearl and brass and a matching inlaid central cartouche and keyhole.
Inside, the box is fitted with a lovely blue/green writing surface with a tooled edge. It comes with a pair of glass inkwells and a pen tray and there is a series of small letter racks behind them. The top and bottom section of the writing surface lift up to give extra storage space below.
It is in very good condition for its age and comes with a working key. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks but no major damages and it displays beautifully.
