Product Details

A superb example of an antique writing slope dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of rosewood with the most wonderful ornate inlaid mother of pearl and brass decoration on the front and top of the box with a central cartouche engraved 'Helen'.

Inside, the box is fitted with a lovely lilac velvet writing surface with a black and gilt tooled edge. It comes with its original pair of glass inkwells with brass tops and a pen tray. The top and bottom section of the writing surface lift up to give extra storage space below. There are also three small secret drawers which spring open when a piece of wood by the inkwell is lifted.

It is in very good condition for its age. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks but there are no major damages and it displays beautifully. The box does not come with a key.
