A good example of an antique writing slope dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of rosewood with brass banding on the edges, an inlaid brass escutcheon and brass cartouche.
Inside, the box is fitted with a dark leather writing surface with a tooled edge. It comes with a glass inkwell and a pen tray. The top and bottom section of the writing surface lift up to give extra storage space below. There are also two small concealed secret drawers which spring open when a piece of wood is lifted by the pen tray.
It is in very good condition for its age. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks, minor splits and some wear to the leather surface but there are no major damages and it displays well. It does not come with a key.
