A charming Victorian pine clerk’s desk dating from the mid to late 19th century. It has a sloped front with a small lip near the bottom and there are two recesses on the top which would have once housed inkwells. The top lifts up to reveal a series of small pigeon holes and 3 small drawers.
It is in good condition and has developed a wonderful rich patina over the years with much of the original red oxide painted finish remaining. There are general signs of age and use, small old knocks and marks but no major damages and the piece is strong and sturdy. There are some signs of old woodworm in the bottom of the legs which has all been treated and hardened as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically.
It has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina, and is ready for use.
