A lovely small oil painting on canvas dating from the mid 19th Century. It is well executed with lots of detail and depicts a fisherman on a riverbank. It is a typically English scene however the painting is not signed and we do not know the origin. It is framed in its original gilt frame with a lovely cushioned border and gilt slip.
The painting is in good condition for its age. There are a few small surface marks and a small old repair but the colours are bright and vibrant and overall it displays very well. The gilding on the frame is clean and bright. There are a few small knocks and minor losses around the edges but nothing detrimental. The painting has been lightly cleaned and is ready to hang.
