A lovely small oil painting on canvas dating from the mid 19th Century. It is well executed with lots of detail and depicts a countryside scene of a couple walking beside a large lake with sailing boats on. It is a typically English scene and is reminiscent of the Lake District however we do not know the exact origin. The painting is indistinctly signed in the lower right corner.
It is framed in its original gilt and gesso frame with a very decorative border and gilt slip.
The painting is in good condition for its age. There are a few small surface marks and signs of age but no major damages and the colours are bright and vibrant. There are a few small knocks and minor losses around the frame and some old repairs and it has been repainted at some point but it still displays well. The painting has been lightly cleaned and is ready to hang.
