A superb extending oak dining table by renowned makers Howard & Sons, dating from the mid 19th Century. The table stands on four large turned legs and its original brass 'Cope & Collinson' castors.
In its smallest form it makes a circular 5ft diameter table. Each half of the table pulls apart and it comes with three leaves which extend it all the way up to 10ft long. Each leaf is held together with small pegs and dowels.
The makers name and serial number "Howard & Sons. Berners St. 7835 8198" are stamped on one of the central supports.
The table is in very good condition and has been recently polished. The oak has a lovely warm colour and patina and the table is strong and sturdy. There are of course signs of age and use and some minor knocks and marks but nothing detrimental and no major damages. There are signs of historic worm on the supporting struts below where the leaves rest which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the table structurally or aesthetically.
