A lovely metamorphic library chair dating from the late Victorian period. It is made of mahogany with small gothic style carvings on the back rail. It is very well made and converts from a chair to steps and back again in one simple movement with a long metal latch on the side to hold it in place.
It is in good original condition with a wonderful aged patina. The joints are strong and the whole piece is sturdy. There are some small knocks, surface marks and signs of age and use but no major damages. It is possible that one step has been replaced at some point in its life as it doesn't have carpet on like the others and looks slightly less worn and used but it isn't really detrimental. It displays very well and has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
