A good example of a Victorian writing slope with recessed brass military style handles, brass corner pieces, strapping and a matching brass cartouche and escutcheon.
Inside, the box is fitted with a green writing surface and it comes with a pair of glass inkwells with plated lids.There is also a stamp slope and a lidded compartment. There is extra storage space below each section of the writing surface for paper or envelopes.
The box is in good condition for its age and displays beautifully. There are some signs of age and use, some small knocks and marks and minor shrinkage splits but there are no major damages to the wood exterior. The interior is clean and tidy with some minor wear along the crease of the writing surface.
