A lovely Victorian mahogany roll top desk dating from the late 19th Century. The desk has a raised gallery around the top and the cylinder front opens to reveal a fitted interior with a series of pigeon holes and small drawers. There is a large three section writing surface which pulls forward and the middle section lifts up and can be fixed at a slope.
The desk stands on two pedestals, each with three drawers and it also has brass castors below. It does split into three sections, with the top coming off the pedestals so it is easy to move.
It is in good condition for its age and the roll top opens and closes smoothly. The interior is clean and tidy and all the drawers open well.
It is not without some signs of age and use and there has been some restoration over the years. There are some light marks, minor old splits and some knocks and small scuffs around the base of the desk. The knobs have been changed at some point and there has been an old repair to the wood behind one knob on the writing surface but there are no major damages or anything detrimental and overall it displays well. The desk has been cleaned and given a light wax and polish and is ready for use.
