A good Victorian mahogany pedestal desk dating from the late 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has turned wooden knobs and the pedestals stand on plinth bases with castors below. It is a good quality piece with rounded corners and a green leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
The desk is in good condition for its age and has been well looked after. It has a lovely rich patina and the drawers open well. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy with just some minor stains and marks. There are normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks, light surface marks and a few old repairs to chips here and there but nothing detrimental. There has been a small patched repair to the leather (see photo) but overall it displays well and is certainly very usable. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
