Product Details

A Victorian mahogany pedestal desk dating from the late 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has turned wooden knobs and the pedestals stand on plinth bases with castors below. It is a maroon leather writing surface with a tooled edge.

The desk is in good condition for its age and has been well looked after. It has a nice rich patina and the drawers open well. There are normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks, light surface marks and small scuffs around the bases but nothing detrimental. It comes with a working key for the lower drawers. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy and the linings have been replaced on the lower drawers. There are some signs of historic worm in the bases of the top drawers but this has been treated as a precaution. The desk has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
