A good Victorian mahogany pedestal desk dating from the late 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has turned wooden knobs and the pedestals stand on plinth bases with castors below. It is a good quality piece with rounded corners and a beautiful leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
The desk is in good condition for its age and has been well looked after. It has a lovely rich patina and the drawers open well. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy with just some minor stains and marks. There are normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks, light surface marks and small chips around the bases but nothing detrimental. A couple of the knobs have been replaced and there are a few chips on the back of a couple of them (see photos). The desk has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
