A lovely adjustable reading table dating from the mid to late 19th Century. The table stands on a large turned column on a shaped foot with small castors below. The height of the table is adjustable and it ratchets smoothly up and down. The angle of the table top is also adjustable and can be tilted and the table adjusts side to side, allowing for it to be placed over a bed. It has two raised galleries on either edge for holding books or music sheets but these can be taken out to provide a flat surface.
It is in good condition for its age and has developed a lovely rich patina. It is strong and sturdy and all the parts move well. There are some minor signs of age and use, some surface marks and small knocks around the base but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully.
