A fine example of a beautiful burr walnut box with silver and mother of pearl inlaid detail dating from the mid 19th Century. Most likely to have once been a tea caddy or trinket box it has now been relined with a beautiful fitted tray with blue silk lining and marbled paper. The tray lifts out to reveal an additional lined storage area below. It has a mirror under the lid and it comes with a working key.
It is in good condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some minor signs of age and use, a few minor pieces of inlay missing but nothing detrimental and overall the piece displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
