A superb quality country house armchair dating from the late 19th Century. It has a generous deep seat with round arms and a gently sloping back, very much in the style of Howard & Sons. It stands on turned front legs with its original ceramic "Cope's Patent" castors.
There is a paper label on the rear leg for "Beverly Smyth & Sons. Furniture Warehousemen. 30 Sth Anne St, Dublin. 8281"
The chair is very well made and extremely comfortable. We have just had it reupholstered in a good quality and stylish blue/green velvet.
The chair is in very good condition and is strong and sturdy. There are a few general marks and small knocks around the legs but nothing detrimental.
The chair stands approximately 34" (86cm) high, 39" (99cm) deep and 30" (76cm) wide. The seat is 25" (64cm) deep and 15" (38cm) high.
