A lovely golden oak Davenport dating from the late 19th Century. It has a wooden gallery with turned supports and it comes with a pair of original glass inkwells with matching hinged wooden tops. The sloped front has an inlaid leather writing surface with gilt tooled border which opens to a fitted interior with two small drawers and a couple of open pigeon holes.
There is a cupboard door on the right side which opens to reveal four drawers with brass handles. The other side has a matching panel and the front is supported by nicely carved corbels in the Arts and Crafts style. The whole piece stands on large turned bun feet.
It is a good quality piece and the oak has got a lovely warm patina. It has been cleaned and gently polished and displays well. The drawers open smoothly and the interior is clean and tidy. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks and knocks but nothing untoward and overall it displays well. It comes with a working key that locks the sloped front.
