A beautiful antique gilt overmantel mirror dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It has a three piece mirror, each piece with bevelled glass, flanked by gilt reeded columns. There is a nicely carved frieze with ornate scrolling leaves either side of mythical winged beasts and the mirror has a small shelf above with carved supporting corbels.
It is in good condition for its age. It has been overpainted at some point but there are traces of original gilding and it has an attractive worn surface. The glass is original and it has its original panelled back. There are some minor knocks, chips and small losses around the frame but overall it displays well.
