Product Details

A beautiful antique desktop inkstand dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of walnut with ebonised mouldings and ebonised pen trays. It has a brass carrying handle, two large glass inkwells on the top and a drawer with brass handle in the bottom.

The base of the drawer has the original paper 'prize label' for Walsall Science & Art Institute, awarded in 1896-7 for the 1st Class Special Prize for Regular Attendance.

It is in good condition throughout and although it has been used it has been well looked after over the years. Some of the metal prongs which hold the inkwells in place are partly broken and missing (see photos) but the inkwells are still firm and the piece still displays well. There are other small signs of age and use, a few minor knocks and marks around the outside but nothing detrimental.

Approximate Measurements:

Height : 6" (15cm) including handle

Width : 12" (30cm)

Depth : 7 1/2" (19cm)
