A beautiful antique writing slope made of the finest Coromandel wood with ornate brass mounted strapping and escutcheons. The sloped front folds down to reveal a deep blue velvet writing slope with gilt tooled edging. The top section lifts up to reveal a small pen tray and three small lidded compartments.
The box is excellent quality and
in good condition for its age. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and it displays very well inside and out. There are some minor signs of age and use but no major damages. There is some wear on the writing surface and a small hole and a small brass fitting missing by one hinge (see photo) but this hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically.
