A superb example of a tabletop wellington chest dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It was most likely originally used as a humidor due to the ventilation holes but could now be used to store any sort of collection of objects.
It is a fantastic quality piece made from the finest burr walnut with turned wooden knobs and dovetail joints. The chest has 10 drawers in total, each internally divided into two halves with small ventilation holes in the bottom. There are two wellington style pillars that close over the drawers, one secured with a brass latch and one that locks shut.
It is in good original condition and is certainly a very usable piece. There are some minor signs of age and use and the cabinet has picked up some small knocks and scuffs over the years but no major damages or anything detrimental and the wood has a beautiful rich patina. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and all open smoothly. It comes with a working key.
