A lovely Victorian Davenport made of the finest Burr Walnut. It has a sloped front with tooled leather writing surface, four drawers to one side and four dummy drawers to the other. It has a small top section which lifts up to reveal a fitted interior with a pen tray and various other small sections for papers and stationery. The sloped front lifts up to reveal a beautiful interior veneered with maple and fitted with two small drawers and two dummy drawers. It has two shaped carved supports and rests on its original turned feet with ceramic castors below.
It is an excellent quality piece and in good condition for its age. It has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished and displays well. The drawers open smoothly and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are some signs of age and use, some knocks and marks, a few old repaired chips, minor splits and some wear to the leather surface but no major damages and nothing detrimental.
