A beautiful Victorian burr walnut games box of the highest quality with a lovely rich patina and a domed top with ornate brass studded mounts. The top of the box is decorated with three playing cards, a nod to the box's use. It also comes with its original working key.
The top opens up to reveal a couple of partitions which fit a pack of playing cards and various other gaming items. The lid is lined with a beautiful pale purple silk. Although designed as a games box it could of course be used for a variety of items and uses.
It is in good original condition and although it has been used it has obviously been very well looked after over the years. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside, general signs of age and light use but nothing detrimental. There are some stains and wear on the interior but generally it is clean and tidy. The box has been cleaned, waxed and the brass gently polished and overall it displays beautifully.
