Product Details

A lovely adjustable music or reading stand dating from the late 19th Century. The stand itself is made of oak with a brass arm and a heavy cast iron Y-shaped base. It is a good quality piece and the height of the brass arm can be adjusted by slackening the screw to move it up or down. The angle of the wooden stand can also be adjusted using the wheel on the reverse.

It is in good condition for its age and all the parts move well. The oak rest sits into the brass arm on a tapered mount so there is a small amount of natural movement here but it is strong and sturdy and is certainly usable. The brass has tarnished over time and there are of course signs of age and use but no major damages or anything detrimental.

The book rest itself is 15" / 38cm wide x 8 1/2" / 21cm high. The brass stand is 47" / 120cm high to the ball finial and the brass arm is 15" / 38cm long.
