A lovely country oak bureau dating from the late 18th Century. It has nice small proportions and stands on bracket feet. It has a sloped front above four drawers, each with brass plate handles. Two pulls support the front which opens to reveal a series of small pigeon holes, drawers and a central well. It comes with its original working key to the sloped front.
It is in good condition for its age and the oak has developed a wonderful warm colour over the years. The handles are not original but suit the piece well and at some point the feet have been replaced. There are general signs of age and use, some old knocks, marks and minor splits but no major damages and the piece is strong and sturdy. The interior is in good condition and the drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. It has been cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina, and is ready for use.
