A superb Georgian mahogany chest of drawers dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. Each drawer has an inlaid diamond shaped escutcheon and turned mahogany knobs. The chest has a moulded edge around the top and it stands on tall bracket feet. It is an excellent quality piece, very well made and the colour and patina of the mahogany is excellent.
It is in good original condition. It did at one point have different handles and there are some faint marks either side of the knobs (see photo) but they still display beautifully. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks on the top, a few knocks around the feet and a few minor repairs but nothing untoward or detrimental. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and all open well, having had the runners recently repaired or replaced. The back is sturdy and the chest has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
