A lovely country oak bureau dating from the late 18th Century and most likely originating from Wales. It has nice small proportions and stands on bracket feet. It has a sloped front above four drawers, each with brass swan neck handles. Two pulls support the front which opens to reveal a series of small pigeon holes and drawers.
It is in excellent condition for its age and the oak has developed a wonderful rich colour over the years. It has been cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. The handles are not original but suit the piece well. There are general signs of age and use, some old knocks, small splits and a few small repairs but no major damages and the piece is strong and sturdy. The interior is in good condition with a few old surface marks and stains but nothing detrimental. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside.
