A good example of a small english oak Coffer dating from the late 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled construction and the lid opens on ring hinges. It is generally clean and tidy inside with its original boarded floor.
It is a nice plain design which has avoided being overcarved and is a very pretty well balanced example.
It is in good original condition with lots of character and a lovely patina. It has various marks, signs of age and use but no major damages or anything untoward. The front part of the closing latch is missing but the lid still closes flat and it hasn't really affected the piece. There are some minor signs of historic woodworm which has all been treated as a precaution.
