A lovely oak table dating from the early 18th Century. It is a traditional gateleg design with two hinged semi-circular leaves supported by the legs. The legs themselves have gun barrel turnings joined by square stretchers. There is a small drawer at one end with a brass drop handle and both ends have an attractive carved frieze.
The top has mellowed to a lovely warm colour and the whole piece has a beautiful patina. It is a good compact size but would still comfortably seat 3-4 people.
It is in good original condition and is strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use as to be expected, some surface marks, light knocks and wear around the bottom of the feet but no major damages and overall it displays very well. The hinges are strong and the supporting legs move smoothly.
